I think the idea behind it was that "then what" can be interpreted as "so..."
I for one think accuracy is better, but giving out synonyms can help as well.
Maybe don't present them alone though, maybe have them be part of the main definition to expand on it rather than giving 2 cards with the same word just because they're synonyms.
